Habits of Being a Homebody

For me, comfort is both physical and emotional. It’s not just about good design. It’s about your day-to-day tasks, mundane or otherwise, feeling good.

I created this guide as an humble example and peek into my own home (at my unmade bed and kiddos) and I hope you use this as a tool to build what comfort means to you.

A GLIMPSE INTO MY CORE VALUES

I have four core values when it comes to being a homebody. …and good design is not the first. Dive into the whole guide below or read on for a preview of each core.

01 // defining the white space
White space is, by definition, the space between objects. When it comes to your home, white space is both physical and mental (and does not have to be white). White space in the home refers to the physical “breathing room” between spaces, rooms, and objects.

02 // collecting well and sustainably
We all collect. We collect artwork, we collect homewares. We collect heirloomed items, we collect new goods from local and online stores. In a less physical way, we collect media. We collect news. We collect inspiration.

I want to encourage you, in the world we live in now more than ever, to collect WELL and collect SUSTAINABLY.

03 // the practice of good design
There are many factors that make a home feel good. It’s no wonder good design are, of course, important factors. I put this one last intentionally because it’s the surface layer of the first two foundational core values. Good design is important but comes after you set the intentions we just learned prior.

04 // keeping up with the kiddos
The main focus around keeping up with the kiddos is FUNCTION. FUNCTION. FUNCTION. I cannot express that one enough. Purposeful design choices through out your little ones’ space as well as through out the home will keep the overwhelm at bay and your house tidy.

Again, I hope you get a chance to snatch up this [totally free] handbook as an attainable guide to comfort. That’s the real goal here, to feel good and look good while you feel good. Like I said, comfort is both physical and emotional and I hope you use this as a tool to build and implement what that means for you.

I love to share. …words and products and home stories. This post may contain some of my favorite things - some of those things my contain affiliate links. This just means that if you end up purchasing anything through me, I might receive a little kick-back.

What I share is very intentional and
only items I’ve allowed to enter my own home - tried and true.
