BTS | where I call home

Many of you know that I recently moved! It’s been an adventurous year so far. I have a deep love for old homes and a family in the industry of home construction and design. My plan was to marry those two concepts together and build a home to look old. That plan was disrupted when the epitome of a 1940s cottage found its way onto the market and in front of my eyes. Within 7 minutes (literally) of seeing this listing go live, I was in my car flagging a random real estate agent down in the street - in the rain. An offer was made on the spot, along with several competing offers. The stars aligned in the way they tend to do when something just feels right, and within six short crazy weeks, I sold my old house, closed on the new house, and moved in.

Obviously, I’m a bit of an enthusiast when it comes to the home. So the idea that this sweet little cottage was my very own blank canvas has sent my heart into a complete spiral of inspiration and gratitude for this new journey. I’m itching to get the process of projects started so I can share this all with you, but I have to get to know this space and what each room’s use will be with me first.

I already have wallpaper samples hanging up. I’m studying the light as it shifts with the season, and I could create a whole mural of paint samples. For now, I’ll share the space “As-Is,” which is half unpacked, boxes filled with life that has yet to find a place here, and the blank canvas I’ll be inviting you to join me in creating along the way.

My grandmother once told me “what a sad day it is that you find yourself finished making your house a home.” I hope I’m never done creating spaces.

xx,
H
