September | coffee table books + convos
I not-so-gracefully whine about these Louisiana temps often, I know. But regardless of where they are, I’m itching for autumn now that it’s September. Have I worn sandals to Christmas dinner before? Yes. But I’m still here wanting to warm up my home with cozy blankets and color palettes.
As we settling into September and beginnings of the summer to fall transition, I usually start to rearrange a few things I already have on hand. I’ll bring to the surface throw blankets that are a little more on the fall color palette side (warm terracota and deep yellow tones). I’ll move around some surface items to make things feel new. I’ll even clear some surface items in a way that will tell me what I need where.
This is also the time where school for my kiddos has settled into place and my days, from 8:00-3:00, allow for some breathing room in between the work schedule. What does this look like? Lunch break coffee dates with loved ones. These kind of pauses in my day breed love, creativity, and purpose. I’ve had more accidental break throughs - whether that be professionally or personally (probably more personally) with these casual coffee table chats or quick lunch breaks.
I recently had coffee with a friend at her home and we talked for hours about everything and nothing. We talked over life, our children, and how our homes have evolved over the years. When I arrived at my friend’s house, I pulled out The deVol Kitchen book. I snatched up two a while back - one for me (duh) and one for her. There’s an ongoing collection/wish-list of coffee table books I collect, mark up, and dog-ear. We thumbed through our new gem and old loves - always ready to create new ways to make our homes best serve us.
To better share all the things I love with you, I have created a page here on the LTK platform. If I’ve used it, have it, or have gifted it, you can find it there …including my heaping list of coffee table books. If you’re a fan of the app, come find me over there and follow along.

Nestling our way into September is to nestle our way into the upcoming holiday season. Although lots of my monthly posts are geared more towards the feel-good side of the home, I’m sharing this theme of the month as a more tangible goal. Go have coffee (or tea or whatever floats your boat) with a friend.
If I have a wish for you, it’s the hope that you have a friend you can show up and have coffee with and talk about everything and nothing. Should I be so brave as to challenge you to do the same this month? Accidental and unintentional conversations are always the ones that probably needed to be had in the first place. Happy September, my friend.
xx,
Hope
