Plaid Prosperity

If you know me, you know the wallpaper and textile line is floral friendly. Because florals never get old and no one will convince me otherwise. Pattern Play & Mixing Prints is a great article read if you’re looking to layer up patterns with florals. Today, I want to talk specifically about plaid. Last year, I had on my Christmas list “The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Tartan.” Yes. My family questioned me, but yes.

Plaids, stripes, and geometric prints are especially important to balancing out heavier visual patterns. From the byHope line of wallpapers, the Painterly Gingham is one of the top sellers, AAANND if you’ve made it to this second paragraph, you’ll be the first to read that new color options are coming for this print.

Whether it’s on your walls, furniture, floor, or in your wardrobe, plaids (and stripes and subtleties) are all patterns that can stand on their own or compliment other textures and florals. I’ve rounded up a handful of my most recent favorite play on plaids for you own perusing and inspiration-collecting purposes.

PLAY ON PLAIDS (and plaid-like things)

I’ve had my eye on the Sophia Sofa by Heather Taylor Home’s collaboration with West Elm since it’s launched. In fact, for ALL the plaid inspiration, follow Heather Taylor Home.

The Popcorn Grid Coverlet from Schoolhouse has been a well-loved quilt in the house of Hope. Living in Louisiana, it’s an easy all-year round quilt that stands on its own in the summer and paired with a comforter for the winter. However, what I love most about it is its subtle nod to a windowpane style plaid without being too loud.

Studio Mcgee’s Cottonwood Rug from Target was a sweet grab of mine as well. I do love a good window-pane style plaid (apparently) in this rug has floated around my house from the bathroom to the entryway. If I didn’t have spaghetti-dropping aged children, I’d put it under my dining table.

Fellow wallpaper designer, Mitchell Black, launched a line of wallpapers with Anthropologie. This Clark Plaid Wallpaper had my heart skip a beat when I figure put my eyes on these nods to fabric in wallpaper form.
