Heirloom Quality Brands I’ve Been Collecting From

I have always been big on quality over the quick-win take homes, and I’m a fan of functional pieces over just for looks. This goes for marketplace/ antique or the newly purchased finds.

I grew up in a family that curated antiques from yard sales and sold them from the town’s little antique shop. This might mean my kitchen island was a former flat file drawer or the step stool for my kiddos to reach the sink was a metal utility stool. As my home’s style has evolved through age and life’s seasons, I’ve realized that I enjoy mixing modern-day pieces with my vintage discoveries. There’s a balance, an ebb and flow even when you combine the two that brings me great joy and adds a certain level of charm to our spaces.

When I invest in quality pieces, I feel good knowing it’s heirloom-level.

I’ve learned (the hard way) that you get what you pay for, and after many furniture pieces that did not withstand the test of time and three kids, I’ve decided that I’m only going to invest in long-term, quality pieces good enough to pass along when it’s time for a new life outside of this home. When I invest in quality pieces, I feel good knowing it’s heirloom-level.

In our new home, I’ve honed in on what I want these spaces to feel like, and below are the most top-shopped brands we’ve been investing in when it comes to curating these new spaces.

No. 01 | Schoolhouse

Schoolhouse Electric’s motto is “purposeful design + thoughtful living.” I stand by that with a love for practicality and modern takes on traditional designs.

PRODUCT FAVORITES:
lighting, bedding, artwork, household decor

No. 02 | East Fork Pottery

I love a good place setting for the holidays, hosting friends, or my own mid-night snack. I’ve been collecting pieces from East Fork for years. I also love that they have a “seconds” section on their site that are less than perfect pieces but still stunningly beautiful.

PRODUCT FAVORITES:
handmade flatware, mugs, etc.

No. 03 | Revival Rugs

I’m a rug fan, for sure. Revival Rugs has a whole section of products that are machine-washable rugs. You can shop new rugs, vintage rugs, the whole works!

PRODUCT FAVORITES:
washable, new, and vintage rugs

No. 04 | Devol

Devol is a brand I fell in love with when their show, Devol Kitchens, launched. The exceptional love and detail that goes into handmade hardware and tiles won my heart over.

PRODUCT FAVORITES:
hardware, fixtures, handmade tiles, etc.

No. 05 | Article

Article is the most down-to-earth take on a modern look I’ve ever bought from! The pieces and assembly are top-notch quality. I have chairs, tables, sofas, and media cabinets from Article that I know I’ll have for the long run.

PRODUCT FAVORITES

living room, bedroom, and dining furniture, outdoor furniture selection, small decor, etc.

I can’t lie and say I have always been a patient, wait-for-the-right-piece kind of collector. However, I can certainly say I’ve cycled a lot of wrong pieces through my home. After years of culling through the not-so-great choices or the pieces that just didn’t last the test of time, I’m happy to share what has for sure earned a five-star review from me - from quality to investment value.

Enjoy!
